This October, NBA Star Amar'e Stoudemire visited Bennett Media Studio and shot a funny behind-the-scene style promo video. It's for the upcoming film "BEYOND THE LIGHTS" that he produced. Let's see how much he was a hands-on producer.
Filming " What Maisie Knew" at BMS
The "What Maisie Knew" crew were filming at Bennett Media Studio from September 6-28, 2011 for almost a month. "What Maisie Knew" is a feature film which is based on the Henry James novel written in 1897. Adapted for life in current times, it's an intimate story about a 6 year old girl witnessing the stormy divorce of her charismatic and famous rock star mom, played by Julianne Moore.

Piri Concert with Gamin Kang at BMS
On Jan 17, 2012, Bennett Media Studio again welcomed a full house for an intimate concert of Korean Traditional and Experimental music, with Gamin Kang as the featured artist.
Gamin Concert Jan 17, 2012 from Bennett Media Studio on Vimeo.
Gamin Kang, the main performer of the night on ancient Korean instrument Piri, played together with Satoshi Takeishi on percussions as well as Jin Hi Kim on electric Komungo, which is a traditional Korean stringed musical instrument.
The three artists connected the old and new with traditional Korean instrument—meeting the sophisticated sounds from new experimental languages of contemporary music, offering the audience a real East Asian Cultural feast exclusively at BMS in New York City.
I took this photo of the audience after my closing remarks and asked them to say goodbye to the artists.
Private Dinner with Wine Tasting at BMS
I hosted a wine tasting and a private dinner here at Bennett Media Studio on April 26th, 2011. This event was co-produced by DailyFoodandWine.com and featured wine connoisseur, Alex Elman. She has also created some extraordinary wines. You can see her web site HERE.
Although blind, she has tremendous experience and credentials as an executive in the wine business (Perrier-Jouët Champagne in Epernay, and Sherry Lehman in NY). She now imports small production, hand crafted, artisan wines to the U.S and has her own label of wines. Elman’s wines are honest, focusing on the sustainability of the vineyards where they are produced, as well as truly representing the wine’s terroir.
Today, she travels the world with Hanley, her seeing eye dog, in order to find the best wines that the earth has to offer. Hanley is a good sniffer, but stays away from the wine. Good dog.
For this event, we limited it to 30 people who have a keen interest in wine. Most were press people, wine bloggers, and just wine imbibers ( like me) to mix it up and taste some nice wines. We will be doing some future Video for the wine blog, and a posting here at BMS Studios. This may become a monthly series, particularly during the summer when we can go outdoors on the terrace and eat/BBQ/ and enjoy the early evening weather.

Manifesto Moda Fashion Show at Bennett Media Studio
A talented group of Parsons New School of Fashion Design students had their graduation show here at Bennett Media Studio's 1st floor space for live events. The designers configured the gallery space into a curved fashion runway, at the same time utilizing the stage as a raised platform for VIPs. The event was a blast for both designers and audience. Check out the slide show to see all the outfits! Enjoy.
